No VB6 will work on a Windows 7 PC, no matter what brand. Without the log file I cannot tell you what was installed or why it was not. InnoScript is developed and tested on a Windows 7 64bit machine so we know it works there. One thing might be the Anti-Virus software installed on your computer.

I will double check with an installation on a Clean Windows 7 Machine.

Update: I had 3 downloads of InnoScript on my old PC in a folder. 10.5 build 9 was included. Wrote the folder to a CD, read the CD with new computer and tried to install all three copies. Nope, none worked.  I am beginning to think that Dell's PC won't allow your installation or ... well, I don't know. Right now it appears as if I will not be able to use my new PC to build VB files and compile them.  I would have to build all VB files on my laptop and compile there. Seems strange how this is working out, very strange indeed.

My new computer is a Dell Inspiron 620 Slimtower, 500 GB Hard Drive, Intel

Well, now I have a problem. I don't know how to open  DOS or Command Prompt. I used to know how to get to command prompt but forgot. Then if I get that far I don't have a clue as to what directory to change to  the SysWOW64.  And finally, I don't know how to do a Windows Update. I think what you are saying is that my new Dell computer will not allow your program to install.  Isn't this a problem for your customers?

So, if I purchase a new copy of InnoScript it WILL NOT INSTALL on my Dell computer?

Randem

If this is a new PC you might have a problem with it not being updated with Windows appropriately. If you open a DOS or Command Prompt and change the directory to C:WindowsSysWOW64 you can type in regsvr32 tabctl32.ocx (or whatever the file name is ) and it will register. Do a Windows update with all available updates the try again.

I deleted the Randem folder in Program Files. Went back and got another copy of 10.5. Opened and ran it. It installed fine. Run InnoScript and it first says, Some functions are disabled and unavailable in the unregistered version.

Then when it opens and I try to OPEN PROJECT or NEW PROJECT, it says RUN TIME ERROR 339, tabetl32.ocx is pronounced as missing. So, I search my computer and it discovers tabctl32.ocx in C:WindowsSysWOW64. So, what is going on? I have no knowledge where it should be or if I knew where it should be how to put it there. I this normal for all Windows 7 PC or is there something wrong with my new Dell PC?  Could I MOVE tabctl32.ocx to the folder you say it should be in?  As for registering I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

I ran a search on my laptop which has Innoscript 10.5 installed and the search came up No items match your search. So if I need tabcl32.ocx on my new PC for 10.5 how come I can't find it on my laptop? Is it in another hidden file there?

Am I now unable to use 10.5? Then clicked on Yes to do the upgrade. that too failed. How can  I get your program, ANY VERSION, on my new PC. I absolutely have to have it on my new PC.

Randem

Of course the simplest solution would be to start over uninstall, delete all remaining InnoScript folders then re-install...

Randem

Yes, your computer does have that folder, it is just hidden. You either have to type the compete path into the address bar of Windows Explorer or make the folders visible by in Windows Explorer (Not Internet Explorer) or in Computer then select Organize->Folder an Search Options->View then select Show Hidden Files, folders and drives and un-check Hide extensions for known file types. Click OK then you will be able to see the users and other hidden folders. Just remember to do the reverse to hide them again.

BTW: YOURUSERNAME is a position holder for the actual name of the user name you are using on the computer.

You will also be able to look into the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ folder for the .ocx file and register it there if need be.

P.S. I have no idea what you mean by

look into the user temp folder and post the setup file log for the installation.

... and I am sure I would have no idea how to do it if I knew what you meant.

By the way, why in the world is your message board making links out of some of the words,e.g. idea above?

P.P.S. Sorry about the double post. I didn't realize my 1st post was posted so posted it again to make sure and then got to it too late to delete it. Oh, well.

My PC is running Windows 7 and there is no

C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\

(see graphic below).

So what do I do now? I absolutely have to have InnoScript on my PC. Should I do like I did that last time I couldn't access Verison 10.5, just buy a new copy and install that?

My computer is running Windows 7 and and there is no C:/user/yourusername/appdata/ folder. So what do I do now? Should I do what I did the last time I couldn't get another copy of my registered InnoScript and just buy another copy which should install correctly?

Randem

look into the user temp folder and post the setup file log for the installation. that file is deployed so either your registry has a problem or there was an error message about registering that file that was ignored in the installation.

The short way is to go to the System folder then register the file.

BTW: the user temp folder is at C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\ and has the format like Setup Log 2011-07-26 #001 where the highest log number for the date of installation would be the log of the last install.

What I mean is I installed 10.5 OK but the problem happens when the program starts and I attempt to open an existing project. Can you help?

davethomson

I assume you mean the link to getting 10.5. Ok, got that and installed it. Skipped doing the update as I am used to using 10.5. Well, then when I try to OPEN a file I get the error message:

tabctl32.ocx is missing

What now?

You passed it when you came to post here, it's on the InnoScript announcement screen https://randemsystems.support/index.php?topic=21
