Again, your immediate response and continued action to resolve the issues is appreciated and speaks volumes.  I'm sure I'll have other questions as I put it to use and its good to know there is a place to reach out and get the assistance needed.

Cheers.

BTW: We really appreciate the time you took to report this issue so that we could get it fixed. It really helps when someone reports an issue that we do not see here. This is our feedback line...

Thanks.

Aloha, My comments were not meant to be condescending at all. I tend to explain things in detail so that all that I communicate with gets the help that they need. My comments were meant to help get me all the information that I need to help you in the shortest time.

An incorrect error message or explanation will take the problem solving in the wrong direction and when that happens no one is happy for things do not get solved. As you know I cannot ascertain the experience level of all who post here so I am constantly guessing on how to explain how to get the information that could help me help them. Sometimes the posted questions and explanations confuse me and that is likely what you see in the responses. Sorry if I guessed incorrectly, will try to ask questions in a different manner.

This support board is for us to help the customer and we want you to get the help you need here.

Mahalo.

The two updated files were installed and it runs fine now.  I appreciate that you stayed on this until it was resolved.  But the tone of you're comments is frequently unfriendly and condescending.  Just because a customer has trouble getting your product to work doesn't mean they're an idiot.

Cheers.

OK, I found the problem, it was with the automatic update feature not InnoScript. The updater would terminate InnoScript to allow the update to be installed even if there were no updates.

Take these two files and replace the ones you have in the following locations:

AutoUpdateW.exe - C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Randem Systems\Release

InnoScript.exe - C:\Program Files (x86)\Randem Systems\InnoScript\InnoScript 11

or you can download the update or the complete installation from the website at https://randemsystems.com/innoscript// Sorry for the inconvenience.

Aloha,

You never give the error message. It is hard to resolve an issue without knowing exactly what the error is. Please describe exactly what Started then Fail means. Did the main screen show then it shut down? Was there an error message? Without exact details I will just be guessing...

On your last statement (No 7) you state that you re-installed but you do not explain if it is now running or not.

geejay

Yes, I downloaded and ran the exe and got the same results.

1.  I downloaded InnoScript (one word) file InnoScript1101013Release.zip unzipped and installed it.
2.  I started it as admin and it starts and fails.  Also got some runtime VB errors (have print screens if you want them).
3.  Downloaded file innoscript1101013ReleaseUpdate.exe and ran it as admin.  Results were unchanged -- app started then disappered.
4.  Uninstalled InnoScript and rebooted PC.
5.  Reinstalled file from item 3 above (innoscript1101013ReleaseUpdate.exe).  Ran as admin and it stayed operationa.  I entered my license information and was prompted that there was an update available (11.1.14).  I responded with yes to let it update.
6.  After the update to 11.1.14 it again would start then end.
7.  I have now uninstalled and rebooted the pc and reinstalled just the update file from item 3 (innoscript1101013ReleaseUpdate.exe) and it is running.  I have entered my license key and have responded no to update.

Not sure I understand, I uploaded an exe not a script... Please confirm that you are using the correct program. What run time error are you getting? You should be running InnoScript 11.1 Build 14. The more details the better...

geejay

I tried the new script but it gets the same results.
Not sure if it helps, but if I try to run it not as administrator it gets a vb run time error.

I can try to uninstall, reboot, then reinstall.

I'm running on an HP Pavilion d5200 2.83 ghz with 6GB memory - Windows7 (upgraded from Vista) x64.

Randem

See if this helps, Replace your InnoScript.exe in the installed location with this one.

Randem

No a restart is not needed unless it is asked for. Is this an installation over a previous installation? Did you right click and attempt to run as Administrator? Is UAC on?

Run it with task manager open to see if it loads and then is closed.

Try restarting to see if it operates then.

geejay

No prompt from UAC.  But I've granted full control to my own user id which has admin rights.  And the same symptom occurs when I run the .exe as admin.

geejay

InnoScript.exe is not running in task manager.
I did not reboot the system after installation.
Is that needed?

Randem

Are you getting a prompt from UAC to run InnoScript (Vista/Windows 7)? If not and the other two options do not exist then something is stopping it from executing.

Randem

Ok, then look for InnoScript.exe in task manager. the only reason that InnoScript will not run is that InnoScript is already running (will not allow two copies to run at same time) or the AutoUpdateW.exe file is still running. You might have to sort the names in task manager to see what is in the list.
