Great, you need about three applications to be protected. You should not have two A/V program installed, they just fight each other and screw things up... You must totally uninstall the other!!!

Thanks. I have a lot of experience and build my computers and all.  The virus snuck in.  Not from questionable websites, just a file that scanning did not show had something in it.  AVG free did not catch it. I was using NOD32 but trying to save money.  Actually, Microsoft Essentials works well.  It is a bit bulky, but works well.  I will check out your link to see if anything I have not read.

It like having all the extra machines and OS's you need to test with on one machine.

If you are still having problems with those pesky Viruses / Malware / Trojans this may be of interest Virus Problems

A virtual machine is a good idea to have handy so that you know every time you test that you have a clean machine. All you would need to do after creating the VM with all the updates is to zip it up, then next time you need a clean system all you would need to do is to unzip it and waa-laa a clean system to test in again. In that way you never have to corrupt your main system. It's a wonderful thing!

Yes, something is messed up! OK, at least I know now.  I won't go through all that.  I will just reinstall and do whatever updates.  Had a virus at one point and it probably jacked some files and set some things to read only.  I feel better now your stuff works and I have system issues.

I imagine you can delete this whole thread if you want.

Thanks!

I ran your project file thru InnoScript without any error at all. I would suggest that you install  Virtual PC 2007 create an XP VM then run InnoScript inside the VM to see if it works on a clean system. If it does then you know that your system has been compromised and then you can start from there.

dblurred

Sheet, that is about an hour if wasted posts. OK, I will send you the file.

Randem

No, InnoScript has no need to know what is in your code it is only creating an installation so all that is needed is to know what components and references to deploy... I just need the vbp text file.

Glad you like the humor

dblurred

Right, but I thought you needed all of the files. You only need the vbp?  I figured you had to have them all to compile it. No?

Funny guy. No worries.

Randem

That was a rhetorical question... There is absolutely no code in a vbp file it is only a text file that contains parameters... Open the vbp file with a text editor and you will see...

It is custom program written over 15 years and is very specialized.  The work I do I sign NDA's, so I just can't release it without knowing you won't go try to do something with it. Not that you will, but you understand.  I simply don't need InstallShield for this.  I just ran the second program and it crashes also.  They are 2 totally separate programs and both crash after the script is made and both worked before.  It is ironic that version 9 of InnoScript would not even run.  So, maybe some file here.  I do a lot of things with a lot of programs, and I imagine it would not be too hard to have a problem.  Maybe it is something on my system.  At least it creates the script and that is most important as I don't want to.

I could run an SFC to see if I have bad files, but I did a Slipstream and SFC keeps asking for Disc 2 or whatever and I did it all on one CD. SO I can't know for sure if some system file is jacked.  I know you try to handle all situations, but the reality is we engineers use so many programs and configs that there is bound to be something wrong.
