Thanks for the update. Yes, I looked at 10.3 build 0 and there was an update issue that was solved with an overflow error. There was a change in the way the updater worked and of course the updater could not fix the updater.

Sorry about the previous posts, I have been getting numerous post about that issue and quickly assumed... My Apologies.

Yes, in my 6th post, I had mentioned the same: the 10.5 build 5 installed and worked on a different machine (on which InnoScript had never been installed.)

Yes, this is the full, regular version, not WinSxS.

On my main machine (the one with the problem), I did uninstall, reboot and reinstall. Then uninstall, delete remaining directories, and reinstall.

Nothing worked.

Because 10.5.05 did install on another machine, I was convinced it was a registry problem, so, I did regedit, and removed almost every reference (key, value) for Randem (I did leave the file associations alone), rebooted, reinstalled, and it now works.

I think your updater had a problem with something that was in the registry, leftover from previous versions. Or, the updater itself set a registry value that then make it impossible even to install. The previous version I had running, I believe, was probably 10.5 build 2. That's my conclusion after going back through your email notices. Using the updater, (rather than downloading a copy of each new available version), I have no audit trail on that, so I can't be sure. The last one I downloaded was 10.2x but thought I remembered seeing 10.3x installed. That's probably worthless info to you, but if you want to investigate further, it isn't a matter of a clean install but rather an update that caused the problem.  If you get no reports from anyone else, then the hell with it, go catch a wave. :~)

Take care,

Dennis

Sorry, many people have been asking about upgrading from previous version and since you never stated what version that you were running I assumed that you had failed to read the warnings regarding this.

I will look into this to see what could be wrong.

Hi Ralph,

Can I ask what the warnings have to do with my questions?

Here are the warnings:
If you expect to get a response from us, please make sure you accept emails from the randem.com domain.!!!

DO NOT INSTALL VERSION 10.x IN THE SAME FOLDER AS VERSIONS PRIOR TO 10.0

Yes, I can receive emails from you, but you make it clear not to expect an email response from you. You have clearly stated that all support is done in this forum. You email from donotreply@random.com, which is almost as good as blinking text at getting my attention and telling me not to email you or expect support email from you, so this point seems moot.

Yes, my previous installation, which had been working, was 10.3x, and the folder has only been used for v10 since the beginning of v10 when I saw the warnings the very first time.

Since every single person you deal with, for InnoScript, is a programmer, may I suggest that the blinking text is like rubbing our noses in dog poop. Luckily, you haven't triggered an epileptic fit - yet. (I tape a piece of cardboard on my screen, over the blinking text, just in case.)

OK, let's get back to the problem.

Thanks,

Dennis

Did you follow the warnings? They are in  BIG RED letters in the install and also posted in the main announcement screen on the support board in BIG Blinking letters so that NO one can miss them - https://randemsystems.support/index.php?topic=85

You had to pass it to be able to post here.

Sorry about the delay, The emails were getting thrown away as spam. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Another piece of information:

10.5 build 5 will not properly install on my main development machine (where I have had InnoScript - many different upgrades going back to 2004 at least.) This is the same machine where it was working properly, right up until I allowed the automatic update to apply the 10.5.05 update.

I tried installing 10.5.05 on a different machine, and it installs.

So, my guess is: this is most likely a registry problem. I'd like to regedit InnoScript completely off my computer's registry, and start over - that is, unless I get some support advice that tells me otherwise.

Thanks,

Dennis

Hi Ralph,

Since the 10.5x update will not work and has caused InnoScript to stop working, and after waiting for a day for some help, I uninstalled InnoScript entirely, rebooted, and tried to install an earlier version that I could find on my computer (1002012Release.exe).

This won't install either, and I get the error code shown above.

Error I get when I try to install 1002012Release.exe

Ralph, can you please help me?

Thanks,

Dennis

That's all I get when I try to run InnoScript. I am stuck, and asking for help. Please.

Full error message:
========================
Run-time error '429':
ActiveX component can't create object
========================

This happened when I tried to run InnoScript 10.x, and the automatic updater gave a message a new version was available, and I allowed the auto-update to occur.

InnoScript will not run now.

Do I need to uninstall, and then install an earlier version?

Thanks,

Dennis
